we had not cruised before so booked a weeks cruise followed by a week in a 5* Riu palace hotel. We were greeted by the crew at the dock as we went through security checks this was very quick and eficient, when we boarded we showed our room details and were shown the way our room by a maid followed shortly by our luggage. Our first impressions were good but as the holiday went on they just got better each day, all the crew were so friendly and helpful. The cabin was small but large enough for the time we spent there as the entertainment was exelent. The food and service in the seven seas restaurant was exelent and some of the waiters would sing during service which was very funny. The food in the buffet restaurant was very good if you didnt want to use the main one.The drinks were quite reasonable £2.80 for a pint of lager or beer,a large spirit with a mixer £3,soft drinks £1.25 and large wine £3.We used the local taxi / mini buses on the excursions around the Islands at abour $25 for a 3 hour trip and we would get them to drop us off on a nice beach for the afternoon (best day was Antigua with DJ dave on VERA taxi fantastic tour of the island free drinks and fresh fruit all morning droped off at a great quiet beach at 1pm then picked back up at 4pm for $25)
We had a fantastic time and did not want to go to the hotel for the second week.Becuase all the passengers were British the entertainment was all in English and for our taste,It was so nice to be on holiday where all the holiday makers were friendly, polite and dont mind standing in a queue.
We will book 2 weeks on board next time and would use Thompsons again.
