We have just returned from our first ever cruise, and have to say, we couldn't have had a better holiday.

The flights to and from Gatwick by First Choice, to Dominican were very good on leg room and staff, pity all films were not free.

From plane to ship was made easy, without seeing our luggage, which was bought to our cabins a short while after arriving.

After exploring the ship, we retired to our cabins to unpack, wash and change. We were on deck 4 and our cabin was an insude one. I was expecting small, so was quite happy with the space we had. There were 2 big wardrobes for all our clothes, nice big dressing table with large mirror and 2 single beds that were very comfortable. Considering the only time we spent in our cabins was to sleep and wash and change, the amount of room we had was sufficient, though not ample. The cabin was kept very clean by our cabin service staff, and once each week, we found an animal made of towels on one of the beds.

The food in the Seven Seas restaurant was excellent, as were the waiters, who often gave us a song and a dance at the end of our meal.

The Lido Cafe was open all the time with food available, which, although not to be compared with the Seven Seas, most of the time, was very enjoyable, and afternoon cakes and pastries were appreciated by all.

All the staff on board the ship, were wonderful, always polite and very helpful. They could not do enough for you, and always with a smile on their face.

The entertainment staff were terrific too. The shows in the Can Can Lounge were excellent, and I have nothing but praise for them and the Cruise Director Keef. Full marks. Full marks also to the guys in the Oklahoma Lounge - Emma, Paul, Brett, Lee and Katherine. Our thanks to them all for making our evenings so enjoyable.

The Captains dress up nights were welcomed warmly by us and my husbands parents, as it was a chance to really dress up (which unfortunately there are not many places to do that now, especially if working class like us). The nice thing is that we could dress up nicely every night, or you could wear jeans and T shirt, and neither would look out of place. Everybody aboard was happy, and I saw no bad behaviour, only smiles and laughter.

We enjoyed all the Ports of Call, some more than others, but was very dissapointed with Guadeloupe for 2 reasons. One, where we docked the town looked very run down and drab, which was probably compounded by the second reason, it was on strike, so nothing was happening or open. Having spoke to other people in other ports, we found that their ship, knowing Guadeloupe was on strike, actually went to a different island. Shame Thomson could not have done the same.

The only other 2 down points would have to be:-
Photo prices on the ship. You would sell so many more if a reasonable price i.e. 9 for the first and 5 thereafter, as opposed to 14.99 for the first and 9.99 thereafter. Bearing in mind they are all printed and out on display, surely better to get the money back for the cost of developing plus a profit. Just a thought.
The price of Thomson Excursions. They were very pricey for what they were, and a lot of the time, we did our own trip via the islands taxis, for as much as half the price.

But to end on a good note, I would thoroughly reccomend this cruise, ship and staff, to anybody. I have nothing but praise for all 3. Cant wait to save up and book my next cruise, preferably with the Destiny.

Cruise Positives:
Staff, entertainment, cleanliness, food, ports of call

Cruise Negatives:
photo and excursion prices
